Abstract

Brazilian Amazonia has 10 species of Mydidae, almost half of the 22 Brazilian species of that family. It has seven out of the 10 genera occurring in Brazil, two of which (Mapinguari and Utinga) are endemic. Very few specimens of all the species are known, with the sole exception of Dolichogaster brevicornis.
