It's exciting to report new species of Apiocera described by David Yeates and Stefanie Oberprieler from Australia. The article, which recently appeard in Zootaxa (link to article), describes six new species from around Australia in the Apiocera (Apiocera) minor species-group. New species of Apioceridae are relatively rare and the last species described from Australia date back to 1961. This small family taxon has now 143 species and 73 are known from Australia, which represents the largest diversity world-wide.
